These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the RimRun mobile application and any related services (collectively, the "Services") operated by RimRun ("we," "us," or "our"). For questions, contact rimrun.support@gmail.com.

1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account and use RimRun. By using the Services, you represent that you meet this requirement.
If you are between 13 and 17 years old, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. We apply age-appropriate defaults and safety rules for users under 18 — for example, certain discoverability and messaging features are restricted by default, and chat visibility is filtered by age. See Your privacy settings and Chat and messaging for details.
Some features have a higher age requirement. You must be at least 16 years old to add a court, because adding a court requires submitting a public address (see Courts and court data).
We collect your date of birth during onboarding solely to verify eligibility and apply these age-based rules. We do not use it for any other purpose.
2. Your account
To access most features of RimRun, you must register for an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration (including your real date of birth).
- Maintain the security of your password and account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us promptly at rimrun.support@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
- Maintain only one account per person. Creating multiple accounts to evade a suspension or ban is prohibited.
You may register using an email address and password. You must agree to these Terms (including our zero-tolerance rules for objectionable content) before creating an account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, contain false information, or were created to circumvent enforcement actions.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Services only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms. The following are prohibited:
We may add more specific rules over time. Violations may result in content removal, chat suspension, or permanent account termination. See Moderation and enforcement.
4. User content
"User Content" means any content you submit, post, or transmit through the Services, including chat messages, profile information, profile photos, court submissions, court edits, and votes.
Your ownership
You retain ownership of the User Content you create. By submitting User Content, you grant RimRun a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, store, display, and distribute that content solely as necessary to operate and improve the Services.
Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for your User Content. You represent that:
- You have all rights necessary to submit the content and grant the license above.
- Your content does not violate any third-party rights (including intellectual property rights or privacy rights).
- Your content complies with these Terms and applicable law.
Content removal
We may remove, hide, or restrict access to User Content that violates these Terms, at our sole discretion and without prior notice. We are not obligated to monitor all User Content, but we reserve the right to do so.
5. Courts and court data
RimRun's court database is built and maintained by community contributions. When you submit or edit a court, you agree that:
- The information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
- You are not submitting duplicate, spam, or deliberately false court listings.
- You grant us the right to display, modify, or remove submitted court data as part of operating the Services.
No guarantee of accuracy. Court listings — including location, hoop count, indoor/outdoor status, and verification status — are user-submitted and may be outdated, inaccurate, or incomplete. RimRun does not independently verify court information.
Adding courts (16+). You must be at least 16 years old to add a court. When you add a court, you must provide the court's public street address — never your home address or any private location. Court information you submit, including the address and map coordinates, is public and visible to all users. Submitting a private residence, or any place that is not a public basketball court, is prohibited.
Removing a court you added. You can remove a court you created within 5 days of adding it. After that window, the listing is maintained by the community; use the Flag vote or contact us to request review or removal.
No liability for court conditions. We are not responsible for the physical condition, safety, accessibility, or availability of any court listed in the app. Use your own judgment before visiting any location. Court conditions can change without notice.
Verified status. A "Verified" badge reflects community votes, not an official inspection by RimRun. It does not guarantee the court is safe, open, or accurately described.
6. Chat and messaging
RimRun includes several chat features:
- Direct messages (DMs): Private one-on-one conversations between users.
- Group chats: Conversations between multiple users.
- Court chats: Community chat threads tied to a specific court, visible to subscribers of that court, subject to the age-based visibility rules below.
By using chat features, you agree that:
- All messages must comply with the Acceptable use rules above.
- Messages are stored on our servers and may be reviewed by administrators for moderation purposes.
- You will not use chat to solicit, harass, spam, or otherwise harm other users.
- You understand that court chats are community threads and are not private from RimRun administrators.
Age-based visibility. To protect younger users, message visibility is filtered by age and enforced at the database level. In court chats, you only see messages from other users within an age-appropriate range. In practice, users under 18 and adults (18+) generally do not see each other's court-chat messages, except where an adult is a verified professional (such as a coach or trainer). The same age-based limits apply to direct messages, friend connections, and group chats.
Rate limits. To prevent spam, flooding, and abuse, we may limit how quickly or how many messages you can send. Messages also have a maximum length.
Message editing and unsending. You may edit your own messages within 15 minutes. You may unsend your own messages at any time before they are deleted. Unsent messages are marked as deleted but a record may be retained for moderation and safety purposes.
Blocking. You may block other users from their profile, a chat, or your friends list. Blocking immediately removes that user's content from your view and sends an automated report to our moderation team. Blocked users cannot message you or interact with you through certain features. You can unblock users from Friends → Blocked.
DM restrictions. You may configure your account so that only friends can start a new DM with you. See Your privacy settings. Even with this setting on, users you interact with in court chats may still appear in shared spaces.
7. Community voting
Logged-in users can cast a Verify or Flag vote on any court. These votes contribute to a court's community status:
- A Verify vote indicates you believe the court information is accurate and the location is legitimate.
- A Flag vote indicates you believe the court information is inaccurate, the listing is spam, or there is a safety concern worth admin review.
You may retract your vote at any time by tapping your active vote again. You may not cast both votes on the same court simultaneously.
Coordinated abuse of the voting system — such as mass-flagging legitimate courts or organizing false verify campaigns — violates these Terms and may result in account suspension or termination.
8. Your privacy settings
RimRun gives you direct control over how your information is shared. You can access these settings under Profile → Privacy in the app:
- Show friends count — controls whether other users can see how many friends you have.
- Show courts joined — controls whether other users can see how many courts you follow.
- Show courts added — controls whether other users can see how many courts you have submitted.
- New DMs from friends only — when enabled, only mutual friends can open a new direct message conversation with you. Existing chats are not affected.
- Show up in Add friends search — controls whether your username appears in the friend search lookup under Chats → Friends → Add. Users under 18 have this off by default.
These settings do not change the age-based visibility rules in court chats (see Chat and messaging). Court chats are open to other subscribers of a court, but only within an age-appropriate range.
9. Moderation and enforcement
Reporting
If you encounter content or a user that violates these Terms, you can submit a report in the app. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. You may submit up to 10 reports per 24-hour period. Duplicate reports for the same target within 24 hours are deduplicated automatically.
Automated enforcement
We use automated systems to enforce basic content standards in real time, including filtering for prohibited terms and patterns. These checks run before and after messages are sent. You may not attempt to circumvent them through character substitution, encoding tricks, or other methods.
Chat suspension
If your account receives a sufficient number of reports from distinct users (with accounts older than 72 hours) within a rolling window, you may be automatically suspended from sending chat messages. Suspension durations escalate with repeated violations:
- First offense: 48-hour chat suspension
- Subsequent offenses: 7-day, then 30-day suspension
During a suspension, you can still use all other app features (map, court browsing, profile) but cannot send messages.
Account termination (banning)
Severe or repeated violations may result in a permanent account ban. Banned users cannot use the app and may not create new accounts to circumvent the ban.
Appeals
If you believe a moderation action was applied in error, submit an appeal in the app (if your account is banned) or email rimrun.support@gmail.com with your username and a description of the situation. We will review your appeal and respond as soon as reasonably possible. We are not obligated to reverse a moderation decision.
10. Privacy policy
Your use of RimRun is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. The Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal information.
11. Intellectual property
The RimRun name, logo, app design, code, and all other proprietary content are owned by RimRun and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Services without our prior written consent.
Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership of our intellectual property to you. The limited license we grant you to use the Services does not include any right to sublicense or transfer that license.
Your User Content remains yours, subject to the license described in Section 4.
12. Disclaimers
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that:
- The Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
- Court data is accurate, complete, or up to date.
- Any court listed in the app is safe, open, or accessible.
- Results obtained from using the Services will be accurate or reliable.
Your use of the Services and any court location found through the app is at your sole risk. We are not responsible for any injury, loss, or damage resulting from visiting a court or relying on court information displayed in the app.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL RIMRUN, ITS OPERATORS, AFFILIATES, OR CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, PERSONAL INJURY, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF — OR INABILITY TO USE — THE SERVICES OR ANY COURT LOCATION FOUND THROUGH THE SERVICES, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
IN JURISDICTIONS THAT DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN EXCLUSIONS OR LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
14. Termination
By you. You may delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the app (Delete account). Upon account deletion, your personal data will be handled as described in our Privacy Policy. Some content (such as court submissions that have been adopted by the community) may persist in anonymized form.
By us. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms, if required by law, or for any other reason at our discretion.
Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property rights, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and governing law — will survive.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or the Services shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we may also provide notice through the app or by email. Your continued use of the Services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Services and may delete your account.
