1. What information do we collect?
Personal information you disclose to us
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you register on the Services, express an interest in obtaining information about us or our products and Services, participate in activities on the Services, or otherwise contact us.
Personal information provided by you. The personal information we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us and the Services, the choices you make, and the products and features you use. It may include:
- Account details: Email address and username when you create or update your account.
- Profile information: Profile photo (optional), and any other details you choose to add to your profile.
- Date of birth: Required during onboarding for age verification purposes only. We use this to apply age-appropriate defaults (for example, certain privacy settings default to more restrictive values for users under 18).
- Chat messages: Content you send in direct messages, group chats, and court chats. Messages are stored to deliver real-time and historical chat functionality.
- Court contributions: Courts you submit, edit, or vote on (verify/flag), and courts you subscribe to. When you add a court you provide its public street address and map location. This court information is public and visible to other users — you should only enter the public address of a basketball court, never a home or private address. Adding a court requires you to be at least 16 years old.
- Content reports: If you report another user or piece of content, we store the report details to allow moderation review.
- Blocking: If you block another user, we store that choice so their messages are hidden from you and they cannot reach you through certain features (such as direct messages and friend search). Blocking also creates an automated report for our moderation team to review.
Sensitive information. We collect date of birth solely for age verification. We do not process other sensitive categories of personal information (such as financial data, biometric identifiers, or health information).
Account authentication. You create a RimRun account with an email address and password. We do not use third-party social login providers.
Application data. If you use our application(s), we may collect the following if you grant access or permission:
- Geolocation. We may request location from your device while you use our app to show nearby basketball courts on the map and to support location-based search. You can change this in your device settings at any time.
- Camera and photo library. We may request access to take or choose an optional profile photo. You can decline these permissions and still use the app.
We do not currently send push notifications. This information helps us operate and secure our application(s), troubleshoot, and run internal analytics and reporting.
All personal information you provide must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes.
2. How do we process your information?
We may process your personal information to:
- Facilitate account creation and authentication and manage user accounts.
- Deliver services you request, including real-time chat, court discovery, and map features.
- Apply age-appropriate defaults using date of birth during onboarding (for example, restricting discoverability for users under 18).
- Respond to inquiries and offer support.
- Enable user-to-user communications — direct messages, group chats, and court community chats.
- Moderate content and enforce community standards — reviewing reports, applying suspensions, and protecting users from abuse.
- Request feedback about our Services.
- Evaluate and improve our Services, products, marketing, and your experience.
- Comply with legal obligations, respond to legal requests, and protect our rights.
3. Your in-app privacy controls
You can access these settings in the app under Profile → Privacy. Each toggle saves instantly.

Messaging & discovery
4. When and with whom do we share your personal information?
We may need to share your personal information in situations such as:
- Service providers. We use Supabase as our hosted backend, authentication, and database provider. Supabase processes data on our behalf according to their privacy policy.
- Other users. Information you share publicly (for example, your public profile, or court information you submit) is visible to other users of the app. Messages you send in group or court chats are visible to other participants of that conversation. Court chat visibility is filtered by age: users generally only see messages from others within an age-appropriate range, so users under 18 and adults (18+) do not normally see each other's court-chat messages (with limited exceptions, such as verified professionals). Your email address and date of birth are not shared with other users.
- Business transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with a merger, sale of assets, financing, or acquisition.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the app, or others.
5. Account authentication
You register and sign in with an email address and password. Authentication is handled by our backend provider (Supabase) on our behalf. We do not currently offer Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple in the app.
6. How long do we keep your information?
We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this notice, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. No purpose in this notice requires keeping your personal information longer than while you have an account with us.
When we no longer have a legitimate need to process your information, we delete or anonymize it, or securely isolate it (for example, in backups) until deletion is possible.
7. How do we keep your information safe?
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including row-level security policies on our database to restrict data access by role, column-level restrictions so that sensitive fields such as your email address and date of birth are not readable by other users, and role-based access controls for administrative data. No electronic transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee that unauthorized parties will never defeat our security. Use the Services at your own risk and in a secure environment.
Sensitive profile fields are also read through secured server functions rather than direct database access where applicable.
8. Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us using the email below and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
Users who are 13–17 years old may use the App with a parent or guardian's consent. We apply more restrictive defaults and safety features for users under 18, including:
- Username discoverability in friend search is off by default.
- Court chat messages are filtered by age, so younger users and adults do not normally see each other's messages.
- A higher age requirement (16+) to add a court, since adding a court involves submitting a public address.
Users under 18 can review and adjust the available defaults in Profile → Privacy.
9. What are your privacy rights?
Withdrawing consent. If we rely on your consent to process your personal information, you may withdraw it at any time by contacting us as described in How to contact us. Withdrawal does not affect lawfulness of processing before withdrawal where the law allows.
Account information
To review or change your account details, use Profile → Account in the app. To delete your account, use Delete account on the Profile tab, or email us at rimrun.support@gmail.com.
When you delete your account, we deactivate or delete it from active databases. We may retain some information as needed for fraud prevention, troubleshooting, investigations, enforcing our terms, or legal compliance.
Canada (PIPEDA and provincial laws)
If you are in Canada, we handle your personal information in accordance with the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws (such as Quebec's Law 25). You may:
- Withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits, by contacting us — this may limit your ability to use some features.
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct inaccuracies.
- Ask us to delete your account and associated personal information.
We collect, use, and disclose personal information only for the purposes described in this notice and obtain consent where the law requires it. To exercise these rights, email rimrun.support@gmail.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or your provincial regulator (for example, the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec for Quebec residents).
Questions about privacy rights? Email rimrun.support@gmail.com.
10. Controls for Do-Not-Track features
Some browsers and devices offer a Do-Not-Track (DNT) setting. There is no uniform standard for DNT yet, so we do not currently respond to DNT signals. If standards change, we will update this notice.
California law requires us to state that we do not respond to DNT signals at this time because no industry or legal standard for honoring them exists yet.
11. Do United States residents have specific privacy rights?
If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain copies of your personal information, among others, subject to limitations in applicable law.
